Announcing the Launch of the NSU Workday HCM Project

Dear Spartans,
I am delighted to announce that Norfolk State University is embarking on an important, campus-wide transformation: the adoption of the Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) platform. With the full support of our Board of Visitors, we are modernizing the systems that harness our people-related services so we can meet and exceed the evolving needs of our employees and our students.
Why Workday and Why Now?
Since the mid-2000s, our human-resources functions have relied on aging technologies that no longer reflect the agility or insight a modern university requires.
Workday, a leading enterprise platform in higher education, will allow us to:
- Streamline everyday tasks. Self-service tools will replace manual, paper-intensive processes, saving time.
- Gain real-time insights. Robust analytics will empower managers and leaders to make data-driven decisions on recruiting, retention, and workforce planning.
- Enhance service quality. Consistent processes and a single source of data will ensure accuracy and transparency across the university.
What to Expect
Implementing Workday will be a multi-year journey involving design, testing, and training. Throughout each phase, you will see opportunities to share feedback, pilot new features, and prepare your teams for go-live. You may have recently seen a campus announcement noting the Workday program website - Regular updates, including timelines, training schedules, and support resources, will be posted to this Workday program website at https://workday.nsu.edu
Your Role
The success of this initiative depends on the collective expertise of our entire community. In the weeks ahead, project teams may reach out to you for your insights on how Workday can best support your area's needs. I encourage you to participate fully; your engagement will help shape a solution that serves us all.
Thank you in advance for your partnership and enthusiasm as we take this bold step forward. Together, we will build a more agile, efficient, and service-focused Norfolk State University.
With Spartan Pride,
Javaune Adams-Gaston, Ph.D.
President
