As part of our commitment to enhancing efficiency, transparency, and user experience across campus, NSU is implementing Workday, a modern, cloud-based platform that will streamline our human resources, payroll, and finance systems.

This page is designed to answer common questions about what Workday is, why NSU is making this change, and how it will impact faculty, staff, and students. Whether you're curious about training opportunities, timelines, or specific system features, you'll find helpful information here to guide you through the transition.

What is Workday?

Workday is a cloud-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) system that integrates human resources, payroll, and financial management into one unified platform. It offers a modern user experience, streamlined processes, and improved data accuracy.

Why is NSU transitioning to Workday?

Norfolk State University is implementing Workday to modernize outdated systems, improve operational efficiency, and provide a more user-friendly experience for faculty, staff, and administrators. Workday supports better decision-making through real-time data and analytics.

When will Workday go live at NSU?

Workday will be launched in 3 phases (HCM, Finance, and Student) at NSU. The HCM launch is first and has a target “Go Live” date of mid-year 2026.

What HR functions will be available in Workday?

The following HR services will be performed in Workday: Recruiting and Hiring Workflows, Onboarding, Performance and Talent Management, Workforce Analytics and Reporting, and Self-Service Information Updates by Employee and Manager.

Will employees need to re-enter personal information in Workday?

Much of your existing data will be transferred to Workday. However, upon first login, you may be asked to review and verify your information for accuracy.

How will payroll be handled in Workday?

Payroll processing, pay stub access, direct deposits, and W-2 forms will still be processed via Cardinal.

What finance processes are being impacted?

All Colleague financial processes and budget planning will move to Workday. All other financial processes that will move to workday will be determined in the next Finance phase of Implementation, during the Workday Readiness Discovery sessions.

Will training be provided for new finance processes?

Yes, comprehensive training sessions will be offered for all impacted users, including tutorials, job aids, and live workshops.

Will training be available for faculty and staff?

Absolutely. NSU is committed to supporting all users with robust training resources before, during, and after the Workday launch. Look for updates about training schedules, online guides, and hands-on support.
