Training Rollout Update

In a continued effort to prepare employees for the transition to Workday, the NSU Workday Training team is creating a comprehensive and engaging training rollout plan. Training will begin in mid-May and continue throughout June and beyond the go-live date of July 1, 2026.

Here's what you need to know:

Just-In-Time (JIT) Training
NSU is adopting a “Just-In-Time” training approach, delivering sessions close to the July 1 go-live date. This ensures that information is timely, relevant, and easier to retain. The goal is to help employees feel confident and prepared as they begin using Workday in their daily roles.

Extensive Resources
The training team is developing more than 60 job aids that will be available through a centralized online resource library. These materials will provide clear, step-by-step guidance for key Workday tasks and processes. In addition, employees will have access to micro-learning videos, live webinars, and in-person training sessions designed to support different learning styles.

Ongoing Training and Support
Employees are not expected to master Workday on day one. Training at Norfolk State University is designed to be continuous, with additional learning opportunities available after go-live. This spring, employees are encouraged to focus on the tasks they perform most frequently to build a strong foundation.

Support Structure
To ensure a smooth transition, a strong support system is being established. Employees will have clear points of contact for assistance, along with access to helpful resources and guidance. This structure is designed to create a collaborative and supportive environment throughout the transition.

With this thoughtful and strategic training plan, Norfolk State University employees can look forward to a smooth and successful transition to Workday. The focus on timely learning, practical resources, and ongoing support ensures that everyone is equipped for success.
