We’re excited to share updates from our ongoing journey toward implementing Workday and transforming the way we work.

Thank you to everyone who participated in Workday’s first NSU Readiness Assessment Survey. With over 100 responses, your insights are incredibly valuable to our organization. We sincerely appreciate the time you took to share your perspectives. Your engagement plays a crucial role in ensuring a smooth transition to the Workday platform and directly supports our shared success as an institution.

What is Workday?

Workday is a cloud-based software platform specializing in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Human Capital Management (HCM). It unifies HR and finance processes including payroll, time tracking, talent, and benefits into one seamless system, giving NSU real-time insight into operations and data.

Why Workday? Why Now?

NSU is adopting Workday to modernize administrative systems and boost operational efficiency. This unified platform streamlines:

  • HR Services (Phase 1)
  • Finance Functions (Phase 2)
  • Student Systems (Phase 3)

It enhances collaboration, supports transparency, and empowers informed decisions through better access to data. For employees, it means improved tools, services, and performance management. The first phase of this project is dedicated to implementing HCM.

When Is Workday HCM Launching?

The HCM (Human Capital Management) workstreams are rolling out in a phased approach from Readiness & Plan, to Architect & Configure, Test & Train, and finally into Deployment throughout 2025 and into early 2026. Workday HCM will go live in Summer 2026. As we approach this date, NSU will share detailed guidance on:

  • What actions to take
  • When to take them
  • Why the transition is happening
  • Where to find support and resources

We've Been Quiet - But Not Idle!

Here's the scoop on where we've been and where we're headed with the Workday HCM implementation at Norfolk State University:

Past Milestones (Since February 2025)

  • 02/2025 - 05/2025:
    Ongoing project milestones that reflect a timeline of continuous progress and achievement, preparing us for full deployment in 2026.

Upcoming Timeline:

  • Summer 2025: Continued configuration, testing, and change management efforts
  • Fall 2025: Engagement, training, and pilot rollouts
  • Spring 2026: Final testing, user readiness, and cutover planning
  • Summer 2026: Workday HCM goes live!
  • Summer 2026: Phase 2 Begins
  • Fall 2027: Phase 3 Begins
